About storm damage & insurance claims

Insurance claims are stressful even when they go well. When they go badly, families get a surprise bill on install day that is thousands of dollars more than the insurance company agreed to pay. That should not happen.

After hail or a windstorm, we inspect the roof for free and put together a documentation package: photos, measurements and a scope of work your adjuster can read directly. We tell you plainly what is likely to be covered, what probably won't be, and why.

If you want us there, we attend the adjuster's inspection with you at no charge. If you've hired a public adjuster, we work closely with them. When tear-off uncovers hidden damage, we submit a supplement to your insurance company before you see a bill.

Your out-of-pocket cost is your deductible plus any upgrades you approved in writing. Nothing else.

Storm Damage & Insurance Claims

Signs of storm damage

  • Shingles in the yard

Blown-off shingles after a windstorm mean the roof has an opening, even if nothing is leaking yet.

  • Dents on gutters, vents or siding

If hail dented the metal around your house, it hit the roof too.

  • Lifted or creased shingles

Wind can break the seal on shingles without tearing them off, and they often can't be seen from the ground.

  • A new leak after a storm

Water coming in right after a storm is worth documenting before anything else changes.

  • Neighbors getting roofs

If hail hit your street, have your own roof checked. Damage you can't see from the ground is still damage.

Step by step

How we handle a storm claim

Straight-down drone view of a new gray shingle roof with a chimney
  1. Free inspection and documentation

We inspect the roof and attic and build a documentation package: photos, measurements and a written scope of work. Then we talk through what is likely covered and what isn't.

  2. The adjuster meeting

We meet the adjuster on site with you, at no charge, and walk them through what we found. If you have a public adjuster, we coordinate with them.

  3. A scope written in Xactimate

We write the scope in Xactimate, the claims estimating software most major insurers use, so there are fewer disputes.

  4. Your number in writing

Before the job starts, you know your out-of-pocket cost in writing: your deductible plus any upgrades you chose and signed off on.

  5. Supplements for hidden damage

If tear-off uncovers damage nobody could see, we document it and submit a supplement to your insurance company before you pay for it yourself.

  6. Install and close-out

The roof goes on the way all of our replacements do, and the number on install day is the number you knew about on contract day.

What homeowners say about the work

All reviews
“Dave and his team were excellent. my roof was damaged by a hail storm in April 2023 After another contractor walked away from the job, Dave stepped in and worked with the insurance adjuster and was able to get my roof replaced. They did great work and delivered everything on time and as promised. I would definitely recommend Mission Roofing.”
Kevin Subers · Google, June 2025
“The reviews say it all. In this day and age it's difficult to find the standard of quality and service Dave and his crew provided. Our roof was severely damaged in a windstorm and within days of contacting him we had a brand new beautiful roof for a very affordable price. Dave and his crew were professional and obliging in every way ( without leaving a trace! ) Thank you gentlemen for helping restore our piece of mind.”

“David and his staff were incredible! They were very helpful throughout the claims process and extremely efficient with the roof repair. They went above and beyond. I would highly recommend them”

Questions

Storm Damage & Insurance Claims: straight answers.

More in the full questions & answers, or call (484) 647-7466.

Will you work with my insurance company?

Yes. We handle the paperwork, meet the adjuster on site with you and submit supplements if hidden damage shows up during tear-off. You shouldn't have to deal with your insurance company alone.

Will you cover my deductible?

No. Waiving or covering a deductible is insurance fraud under Pennsylvania law, and we never do it.

What will I actually pay out of pocket?

Your deductible plus any upgrades you specifically chose and approved in writing. You'll have that number in writing before the job starts.

What if my insurance company underpays the claim?

We write every scope in Xactimate, the claims estimating software most major insurers use. If there's a gap, we help you request a supplement. We don't ask you to pay the gap if the work is legitimately covered.

I already have a public adjuster. Can you work with them?

Yes. We work closely with public adjusters and give them the same photos, measurements and scope we'd give your insurance company.

Can you take over a claim that's already in progress?

Yes. We'll inspect the roof, review where the claim stands and tell you honestly what we can do from here.
