About roof repair

The first question with any leak is simple: do you need a repair, or a new roof? Plenty of homeowners get quoted the big number for a problem that was a vent boot, a piece of flashing or a few shingles.

If your roof can be repaired, we will tell you and we will repair it. If it can't, we'll say so plainly, show you the evidence, and let you weigh your options at your own pace.

Water travels. The stain on your ceiling is usually not right under the hole in the roof, so we trace the water back to where it gets in before we touch anything. Most leaks start at a penetration: a plumbing vent, an exhaust, a chimney, a skylight, or step flashing where the roof meets a wall.

We repair shingle and flat roofs. Every repair comes with before-and-after photos and a written workmanship warranty on that specific area. And if the leak comes back, so do we.

Why the stain is rarely under the leak

Water gets in at one point, runs along the underlayment, a rafter or the top of the insulation, and drips wherever it finally lands. So patching the shingles right above the stain rarely fixes it.

That is why a good repair starts in the attic and ends at the source, and why we tell you plainly when we haven't found it yet.

Roof Repair

When a repair is probably the right call

  • One leak in a known spot

A single leak around a vent, chimney or skylight is usually a flashing or seal problem, not a failed roof.

  • Shingles lost in one storm

A section blown off in a specific windstorm, on a roof that otherwise looks solid, can usually be patched in.

  • Flashing pulled away at one spot

Flashing that has separated in one place can be reset or replaced without touching the rest of the roof.

  • Fascia or soffit damage

Damage at the edge of the roof, including openings where birds or animals get in, is a repair, not a replacement.

  • A roof with life left in it

If the roof is less than about two-thirds of the way through its expected life, fixing the problem usually makes more sense than starting over.

Step by step

How a repair visit goes

  1. Start inside

We look in the attic first. Stained sheathing, dark or compressed insulation and rusted nails show where water has been traveling.

  2. Trace it to the source

On the roof, we check every penetration and the flashing around it until we find where water is actually getting in. If we can't find the source, we tell you instead of charging for a patch that won't hold.

  3. Photos and a plain answer

You see photos of what we found and hear whether it is a repair or something bigger, with the evidence either way.

  4. Make the repair

We fix the cause: the vent boot, the flashing, the lifted or missing shingles. You get photos of the finished work.

  5. Warranty in writing

The repaired area gets a written workmanship warranty. If the same leak shows up again, we come back until it's actually fixed.

What homeowners say about the work

All reviews
“This company is great! The owner came out for an inspection, and found a small damage area. Since the rest of the roof is fine, he did not push at all and just help me fixed that small portion free of charge. Total respect for the honesty and kindness, and will definitely go there when I need a new roof. Highly recommend!”

“I called Dave, after being referred by a colleague. I had some birds trying to nest behind five pond molding under my gutter. Dave came out right away and fixed the problem. I would recommend Dave to anyone looking for repairs or replacement. He is very fair, responsive and helpful.”
Mike Kerrigan · Google, July 2025
“Mission really went above and beyond on the repairs done to my home. They were efficient, reliable and professional. And their prices were better than fair!!”

How do I know if I need a repair or a whole new roof?

A single leak in a known spot, storm damage to one section, or flashing that's pulled away at one place usually points to a repair. Leaks in several areas, granules piling up in the gutters, curling across whole slopes, or soft decking point toward replacement. We'll tell you which one you have and show you the photos.

Do you handle emergency leaks?

Yes. Our office hours are Monday through Saturday, 8 am to 4 pm, but nights and weekends are fine for emergency repairs. Call us and tell us what's happening.

Is the repair warrantied?

Yes. Every repair comes with a written workmanship warranty on the specific area we repaired. If our fix didn't solve the problem, we didn't finish the job, and we come back.

What if the leak comes back after the repair?

Call the same number. We find your file, come out and fix it. If it turns out to be a separate issue, like a tree branch or a plumbing leak that was never a roof problem, we tell you what it is and what it costs.

Can you match my existing shingles?

We try hard to. Older shingle colors and lines get discontinued, so we'll tell you honestly how close a match we can get before we start.

Is there a discount on a first repair?

Yes. Mention our homeowner guide and get $250 off your first repair.

Will you try to sell me a new roof?

Not if you don't need one. If your roof has years left and a localized leak, we'll quote the repair. If it is near the end of its life, we'll say so with the evidence and leave the decision with you.
