Choosing a roofer

Why should I choose Mission Roof?

We have a physical office in Newtown, an owner you can reach, and we're an Owens Corning Preferred Contractor and an Atlas Signature Select contractor. Ask us who your project manager will be by name, whether permits will be pulled, and how we handle hidden damage mid-job. We'll answer all of it before you sign.

Are you licensed and insured?

Pennsylvania doesn't issue roofing licenses. We are a PA-registered home improvement contractor (HIC #201201) and insured, with general liability insurance and workers' compensation. Certificates are available on request, and we are happy to send them to you before you sign a contract.

Does Mission Roof go by any other business names?

No. We operate under one name, with one local phone number, (484) 647-7466, and one address. If someone calls claiming to be from Mission Roof under a different company name or from an unfamiliar number, it isn't us. Tell us and we will flag it.

Estimates, inspections and quotes

Will someone actually get on my roof during the inspection?

Yes, whenever it is safe to do so. We start in the attic to look for signs of water getting in, then go up on the roof and check every penetration: vents, chimney flashing, skylights, and step flashing where the roof meets a wall. A drone is a tool we use for documentation, not a substitute for a real inspection.

What if my roof doesn't actually need to be replaced?

Then we will tell you. If a repair solves your problem, we quote the repair. If your roof is five years from the end of its life and you have one localized leak, we will say so. We would rather do a $600 repair you are happy with than sell you a $20,000 roof you resent.

Can you give me a second opinion on a quote?

Bring it. We will inspect your roof, review the scope you were given, and tell you honestly what matches, what is missing, and what looks inflated. No charge, no pressure.

How long does an estimate take?

About 45 minutes to an hour for a straightforward residential inspection. You walk away with a written scope of work and a documented price.

Is the estimate really free, or is there a dispatch fee?

Free. No show-up charge, no inspection fee, no bait-and-switch.

Contracts and pricing

Will the final price match the estimate?

Yes, with one honest exception. If we tear off your old roof and find rotten decking or damaged structure we couldn't see from outside, replacing it costs extra. That per-sheet cost is written into the contract before you sign, so you know the number in advance. If there is no hidden damage, the contract price is the price.

Will I get surprise charges on install day?

No. If something changes, we talk to you before any work beyond the contract scope begins. The price on install day is the price on contract day.

What is your payment schedule?

Typically a modest deposit at contract signing and the balance within a few days of job completion. We do not ask for the full balance before the work is done.

Would you ever ask me to sign a contract on the spot?

No. Take as long as you need to review the scope, compare quotes and think it over. The price we give you is good for 30 days.

Financing and cost

Do you offer financing?

Yes. We offer flexible financing through HFS Financial, including low-to-zero out-of-pocket options you may qualify for. We can walk you through it when we go over your quote.

What does an inspection cost?

Nothing. Roof inspections and second opinions on any quote are free, and you keep the photo-documented written report either way.

What does rotten decking cost if you find it?

We quote a flat per-sheet rate, typically $85 to $125 per 4x8 sheet depending on current lumber prices, and it is in writing before we start. You see every sheet we replace, photographed, and the invoice reflects the actual count, not a guess.

Your project manager and crew

Who runs my project? Will I have one point of contact or a different person every time?

You get one named project manager who runs your job from start to finish, and you have their direct phone number. You call them, not a general office line, if anything comes up.

Will the crew speak English, and will there be a supervisor on site?

Yes. There is always an English-speaking supervisor on site who can answer your questions, make decisions in real time and handle any surprise. Our crews are respectful of your property and your neighbors.

What hours do you work? Do I need to be home?

Our crews typically arrive between 6:30 and 7:30 in the morning and work through the day. On a straightforward asphalt-shingle replacement we are usually done in one day. You don't need to be home, but if you want to meet the project manager, we will schedule around you.

Will your trucks block my street or my neighbors' driveways?

We coordinate material deliveries to keep the disruption down. The dumpster goes as close to the work as possible without blocking neighbors or damaging your driveway. If a parking or access issue can't be avoided, we tell you in advance.

How will I know what is happening during the install?

Your project manager sends progress photos during the day. You see the deck after tear-off, before the new underlayment goes down. You see any hidden damage we find. You see the finished roof when we are done.

What if I have a question during the project?

Call or text your project manager. You will get a response the same day during business hours, usually within an hour.

What if something goes wrong?

Call us right away. We would rather hear about an issue in real time than read about it in a review two months later. Problems in roofing are not unusual. What matters is how fast and how honestly they get resolved.

Workmanship and materials

What shingles do you use?

Owens Corning Duration is our go-to shingle. We install other brands as well, for example GAF Timberline HDZ when an HOA requires it. Either way, the specific brand, product line and color go on your contract in writing.

What nails do you use?

Hot-dipped galvanized or stainless-steel roofing nails sized to the shingle manufacturer's spec, driven with calibrated coil nailers. Wrong nails are a leading cause of shingles blowing off in the first year. We take it seriously.

What about the underlayment, ice-and-water shield and ridge vent?

Everything is spelled out on your contract: brand, product and location. Ice-and-water shield at the eaves, valleys and around every penetration. Synthetic underlayment across the field. A ridge vent paired with intake ventilation at the soffits so the attic breathes. If your ventilation is wrong, we flag it and fix it as part of the job.

How do you make sure the right color goes on my roof?

The color goes on the contract in writing. We confirm it again on the morning of the install before any shingle leaves the pallet. If there is a mix-up, we don't start until it is fixed.

Cleanup and property care

Will my yard be full of nails after the job?

No. We tarp the ground around the work area before tear-off. At the end of each day and again at the end of the job, we run a magnet over the driveway, lawn and walkways. We also check under the dumpster spot once it is hauled away, because that is where nails hide. If you find a nail after we leave, call us and we will come back.

What if your crew damages my landscaping, my gutters or my neighbor's property?

We fix it. On install day we photograph the condition of your landscaping before we start. If anything is damaged during the job, we repair or replace it at our cost, promptly. If a neighbor's property is affected, we handle it directly with the neighbor so you are not in the middle.

How long will there be a dumpster in my driveway?

It is usually delivered the day before or the morning of the install and hauled away within one to three days of completion. You will know the pickup date in advance.

Warranties and after the job

What warranty will I actually have at the end?

Two layers, both in writing: the lifetime limited material warranty on the shingles, and our 10-year workmanship warranty on the installation itself. You get copies of both.

Will you register my manufacturer warranty for me?

Yes. We register it in your name after the job and send you confirmation.

What does your workmanship warranty cover?

Our installation. If a leak or installation defect shows up, we come back and fix it under warranty. No runaround, and no "we'll put you on the schedule in two months."

What if I call you a year or two later with a problem?

You call the same number. We find your file and come out. If it is covered by our workmanship warranty, we fix it at no charge. If it is a separate issue, like hail damage, a tree branch, or a plumbing leak that was never a roof problem, we tell you honestly what it is and what it costs. We don't invent repairs.

What if the leak keeps coming back after a repair?

We come back until it is actually fixed. If our first fix didn't solve the problem, we didn't finish the job.

Insurance claims

Will you work with my insurance company?

Yes. We handle the paperwork, meet the adjuster on site with you at no charge, and submit supplements if hidden damage shows up during tear-off. We also work closely with public adjusters. You should not have to deal with your insurance company alone.

Will you cover my deductible?

No. Waiving or covering a deductible is insurance fraud under Pennsylvania law, and we never do it.

Will my out-of-pocket cost be what my insurance quoted?

Yes. Your out-of-pocket is your deductible plus any upgrades you chose and signed off on in writing. If hidden damage shows up after tear-off, we submit the supplement to your insurance before you pay for it yourself.

What if my insurance underpays the claim?

We write every scope in Xactimate, the claims estimating software most major insurers use. If there is a gap, we help you request a supplement. We don't ask you to pay the gap out of pocket if the work is legitimately covered.

Siding

What is the biggest siding mistake you see?

Nailing the top row of vinyl through the siding face. Vinyl has to expand and contract with the temperature, so the top row is secured with undersill or utility trim, not nailed through the panel. Done wrong, the top course goes wavy within one summer.

Will the trim colors match the siding?

Yes. We specify every piece in writing before we start: J-channel, corners, soffit, fascia wrap, and window and door trim. Mismatched trim installed without a conversation is a common siding complaint. It won't happen on our jobs.

What about the housewrap underneath?

We inspect your existing housewrap before new siding goes on. If it is damaged, torn or missing, we replace it. We don't cover rot or install new siding over compromised housewrap, and we make sure housewrap doesn't block attic or dryer vents, which creates humidity problems inside the house.

My siding is falling off months after it was installed. Can you help?

Yes. We will come out, inspect what was installed, and give you an honest assessment and options. Most problems like this come down to improper nailing or missing flashing details, and both can be corrected.

About Mission Roof

Who owns Mission Roof?

Dave Haeussler started this company after more than 25 years in commercial and residential construction, including commercial skyscraper projects. You can call and reach a real person, not a call center.

Where are you based?

Our office is at 41 University Drive, Suite 400, in Newtown, Bucks County. We are open Monday through Saturday, 8 am to 4 pm.

Are you certified by the shingle manufacturers?

Yes. We are an Owens Corning Preferred Contractor and an Atlas Signature Select contractor, and Owens Corning Duration is our standard shingle. If you would prefer another manufacturer's line, we will quote it on request.

How do I get an estimate?

Call us at (484) 647-7466, text the same number, email team@mission-roof.org, or fill out the form on this site. We will be out within a few days, usually sooner. Nights and weekends are fine for emergency repairs.

What if I'm not ready to decide for a few weeks?

Take your time. The quote we give you is good for 30 days. We will check in once, politely, and then leave you alone until you are ready. No pressure, no cold calls, no door-to-door flyers.

What does "Roofing with Purpose" mean?

A portion of every project's proceeds pays for pro-bono roofs for elderly homeowners, veterans and neighbors who couldn't otherwise afford one. Every month we also do outreach, delivering food, supplies and hope to people experiencing homelessness. It comes from our faith and Romans 8:28.
